Great Greek in Darien CT

This is the matriarch of the family. She started a brick factory back in Greece. A strong willed woman for sure.

No reservations on a Friday night presented a perfect opportunity to try something new. I had seen this restaurant, Lithos, while driving to Costco the week before and decided to do a quick bit of research. On line menus seemed a mix of traditional fare and upscale, more creative offerings…definitely promising.

Lithos, open just 4 months now, is a welcome addition to the area’s mix of ethnic cuisine. There’s really nothing like it in CT.

We loved everything our waiter Christian, suggested. Zucchini and eggplant “chips” with a yogurt, cucumber dipping sauce, pork and leek sausages grilled over live fire served with an intense confit of tomatoes, char grilled octopus, traditional roasted lamb shank with tomato, feta orzo and an amazing moussaka served in an individual cast iron dish. We had a very good, very reasonable bottle of Greek wine for $42. A great value. Of course the baklava finished off the meal…it was the best I’ve had outside of Greece.
